The work was written for Peter Cigleris who requested it as a teenager. He played the piece for the first time in February 2000 with the South West Sinfonietta in Plymouth Guildhall. It is now published in time for a 2026 performance by Plymouth Symphony Orchestra to mark the 30th anniversary of Plymouth Music Accord, the charity which helped Peter buy his first professional-standard pair of clarinets.
