A series of studies for orchestra based on various folk songs from the British Isles:
1. Two Scottish Tunes - Comin’ Through the Rye & Faithful Johnny; 2. Where are you going to, my pretty maid?; 3. So Far From My Country - Irish tune collected and arranged by Thomas Pitfield; 4. Gathering Peascods - English Country Dance Tune; 5. The Little Room - Staffordshire Folk Carol; 6. Carrion Crow.
The six movements can be performed individually or there are optional ‘link’ sections to join several of them together. This edition has been prepared from Thomas Pitfield’s somewhat ambiguous manuscipt score and a number of obvious ‘wrong’ notes have been corrected to make this pleasantly bucolic set of orchestral pieces.
A PACK includes a full score plus a full set of wind, brass and percussion parts plus strings 4/4/3/4/2.
