This suite started life in 1983 when David Lyon was asked to write a piece for junior strings for the Farnham Festival. The work evolved into this four movement suite for full string orchestra. The four movements are Praeludium, Dance, Threnody and Moto Perpetuo. A recording of this suite (omitting the "Threnody") is available on a Marco Polo CD of works by David Lyon, played by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia conducted by David Lloyd-Jones.
