The overture was composed in 1914 and aims to depict the innocence of childhood. Quilter used twelve famous nursery rhymes and children’s songs - some pop up more than once - so you can play "name that tune" as you listen! The tunes that appear here are: Girls and Boys Come Out to Play; I Saw Three Ships; Sing a Song of Sixpence; There was a Lady who Loved a Swine; Over the Hills and Far Away; Baa! Baa! Black Sheep; Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush & Oranges and Lemons.
The Violin 3 part is an “easy” violin part, rather than an alternative to the Viola. The Clarinet 2 part remains below the break.
This arrangement is an abridged version of the original.

A PACK includes a full score plus a full set of wind, brass and percussion parts plus strings 4/4/3/4/2.
Duration 8 minutes
