KAIMAI SUNSET for two harps
Goodmusic GM528
The first harp plays a gently unwinding romantic melody, taking us on a quasi improvisational journey of ever-increasing intensity while the second harp supplies a supportive bed of sensuous harmonies.
Kaimai Sunset was composed in 2008 in Tauranga, New Zealand, and formed the slow movement of Tauranga Concerto for clarinet and strings. The melody was inspired by the intense and ever-changing colours of the sun as it set behind the Kaimai Hills, and was lovingly dedicated to my wife Sharon who watched the sunsets with me.
This arrangement for two harps was made for fourteen year old Polish harp prodigy Zarina Zaradna to encourage her to form her own harp duo one day! Paul Lewis
