Five pieces for bassoon and piano.
Publisher David Good’s suggestion for a title for this collection could not be more apt! For years I had been meaning to write something for bassoon. The pandemic emptied my diary; I had the time. Contact with Alex Bone, former Plymouth College pupil from my days as director of music there in the 1970s, gave the reason. He had heard one of my Five Pieces for Clarinet on Radio 3. Had I written for bassoon? Roberta, his daughter, first prize winner in the Terras de La Salette international bassoon concurso in Portugal, was about to start her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London. 3. Dreamer (about 3½ minutes)
