What better way to start your concert than with the National Anthem. So often when the National Anthem is required at the start or end of a concert, the conductor just says "The National Anthem in G", cues the timpanist and off we go with the orchestra 'busking it' with varying degrees of success! (On one occasion, just to see if we were awake [and some were not] the conductor called out "National Anthem - in Ab"; what followed was not the orchestra’s finest performance!!)
Here then, is the solution if you want to play the National Anthem without leaving it to chance. This version will work with strings only if that is all you have.
