The composer, Hugh Roberton, was the founder and conductor of the famous Glasgow Orpheus Choir in whose repertoire this song constantly featured. The song is a setting of words by Katharine Tynan. The wonderful melody is here presented in a new arrangement for string orchestra by Philip Lane. A recording of this arrangement is included on a compact disc of various music from Scotland issued on the ASV label.
