Eric Coates(1886-1957)
Born in Hucknall in Nottinghamshire, Eric Coates was the son of a doctor, and studied music at the Royal Academy of Music in London and studied the viola with Lionel Tertis. From 1910 he played in the Queen's Hall Orchestra under Henry Wood. Many of his works were used for film and early television themes.
