
Arthur William Benoy(1913-1984)
Arthur William Benoy was born in Bromley, Kent in 1913. He was an enthusiastic pianist and organist and won an organ scholarship to University College, Oxford and emerged with an M.A. degree in Modern Languages. He spent a further year at the Royal Academy of Music studying composition, conducting, piano and organ. During the Second World War he was a sergeant in the Intelligence Corps. Following his discharge from the services he entered the teaching profession. He was the Music Advisor for Worcestershire for many years and was a prolific arranger of music, particularly for schools.
