Gabriel Jackson
ANGELI ARCHANGELI
for unaccompanied mixed voice choir

For SSATB a cappella.
Commemorating the martyrdom of St Catharine, this reflective piece sets the Antiphon at First Vespers, Feast of All Saints alongside a vivid contemporary poem by Colin Tan. Melodic lines reminiscent of plainchant enhance the contemplative mood. Suitable for the Feast of All Saints and St Catharine´s Day.
Commissioned by St Catharine´s College, Cambridge for St Catharine´s Day and first performed by the choir of St Catharine´s College, directed by Edward Wickham, 25 November 2007.
