Hilary Tann THE CRESSET STONE for violin Oxford Contemporary Repertoire Series | This evocative solo for violin was inspired by the cresset stone (a medieval method of lighting) in the cathedral in Brecon. The work is in one movement and is a meditation on stone and light that begins and ends in stillness. The inner sections contain references to the final Kyrie of an 11th century Gregorian chant.
