Three movements (Lanyon Quoit, The Merry Maidens, Gwavas Lake) give three "views" of Cornwall. The sketches for this work were made by the composer in the summer of 1991 near her home in West Cornwall, when she also made paintings of the three areas. "I have tried to capture the spirit of all three places without making the music either too difficult to play or too abstruse for the listener." Judith Bailey
