Orchestration
2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets in Bb or A, 1 Bassoon
2 Horns in F, 2 Trumpets in Bb, 3 Trombones, Timpani, Percussion (Cymbals, Triangle)
Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Bass)
Mahler's symphonies tend to be scored for a large orchestra putting this wonderful music out of reach of many smaller orchestras. This arrangement whilst not simplifying the music attempts to remedy this by reducing the orchestral requirements. The original orchestration required 3 flutes, 3 oboes, 3 clarinets, 3 bassoons, 7 horns, 4 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani, percussion and strings. Although in many of Mahler's symphonies each movement seems to be an integral part of the larger work, we feel that this movement can stand alone quite happily and offers a good entry to the symphonic world of Gustav Mahler.
Duration: 8 minutes
A PACK comprises an A4 sized full score plus a complete set of parts including strings 4/4/3/4/2.
