This andante from the Sinfonia to the First Chandos Anthem was originally in the key of A major and was scored for oboe, two violins, bass and continuo. This adaptation has been transposed into Bb and scored for Treble recorder (although an oboe could be used), strings and continuo. The final two bars, which modulated to the dominant in the original, have been replaced with a cadence in the tonic.
This arrangement can be played by recorder, two violins and continuo, with or without cello, or by recorder and string quartet without continuo. The violin 3 part is a treble clef version of the viola part.
