Trumpet Tune (Coleman) Pack image
ORCHESTRATION
Trumpet in C
Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola or Violin 3*, Cello, Bass)

John Stanley was a contemporary and friend of Handel. He was completely blind from the age of two, but in spite of this, he was greatly admired both as a composer and as a performer. Handel himself was often to be seen, with other famous musicians of the day, listening to Stanley’s performances on the organ of the Temple Church, London where he was organist for more than fifty years.
This "Trumpet Tune" has been arranged for trumpet and strings and is taken from one of Stanley’s collections of Voluntaries for the Organ.
This edition was originally published in 1946 by Oxford University Press; this new edition has been re-typeset but is otherwise unchanged.
A PACK comprises one full score and string parts 4/4/3/3/4/2 plus one solo trumpet part.
Duration 4 minutes

* When there is an insufficient number of Violas to make the divisi effective, the optional 3rd Violin part should be played by a small body of 2nd Violins, all Violas playing the 2nd Viola part.
